• ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) - While homeowners insurance typically covers the main dwelling, it may not adequately cover the specific risks associated with an ADU. ADU insurance helps protect homeowners from financial losses due to damage from fire, wind, vandalism, or other covered perils. It provides liability coverage if a tenant or guest is injured on the property or if there are property disputes. If the ADU is rented out, it can help cover lost rental income if the unit becomes uninhabitable due to a covered event.

PERSONAL UMBRELLA

Protection over the Liability Insurance portion of your policy for bodily injury or property damage that you are held liable for.  Also, the legal defense if you get sued.

COMMERICAL

• Commercial Auto - If you are a business person, sales, contractor, delivery, etc., you are in need of commercial auto insurance.  From pickup trucks, vans, dump trucks, tractor trailers, you need specialize coverage.  Higher liability limits, DMV or State filings, medical payments, comprehensive and collision coverages are available.

• Garagekeepers - Primarily covers damage to customer vehicles that occurs while the vehicle is in the garage's possession, whether for repairs, storage, or other services. This type of insurance is crucial for businesses that regularly handle customer vehicles, such as auto repair shops, dealerships, and service stations.

• General Liability - For covered perils, this provides protection for damages legally owed to others as a result of your business.  From bodily injury, property damage to personal and advertising injury.

• Commercial UmbrellaIf you are a business owner, you protect your business with property and liability insurance.  However, there are instances where the basic coverage is either not enough or it excludes coverage.  The commercial umbrella policy is over your basic coverage.

• Workers CompensationIf your business has employees, it is mandatory in California that you carry a Workers Compensation policy.  This is a protection for your employees in case of an injury in the course of their employment.

• Business Owners PolicyThis policy can be designed around the needs of your business.  Along with Liability and Property coverage, coverages such as business income protection, accounts receivable, equipment breakdown, valuable papers and records, money and securities, employee dishonesty, forgery, and outdoor signs, to name just a few, can be included.

Home Based Businesses

The liability from your homeowners insurance will not cover a loss that you are liable for if it is due to the home based business.  You must have a separate commercial business owners policy.

Flood & Earthquake

Neither flood or earthquake coverage is offered on your homeowners policy. These must be purchased separate.  Flood is flowing water or earth (mud) from a river, stream or even a plugged storm drain.  Most floods happen in a low risk area.  Earthquake is the earth movement.

BONDS

The State of California requires bonds for specific occupations. Depending on your business you might be required to carry a surety bond, a contract bond or a subdivision bond.

WEDDING INSURANCE

Wedding insurance helps make things right when something goes wrong.   A few coverages available are for a loss of a deposit if the bridal shop where you purchased your gown goes out of business, the hall where the reception is to be held is no longer there, or a catastrophe happens and cancels your honeymoon.
